[SOLVED] Shortcode displaying on top of the post content

Postby admin » Wed Feb 01, 2017 2:21 pm

When you have a shortcode displaying at the top of a page or post, it's probably echoing a variable not returning it.

For example, changing 'echo $user->roles[0]' for 'return $user->roles[0]' would get printed immediately rather than get returned. Since it's printed, it will appear before the page content. Thus, one needs to return variables for them be included in the content of your post.
Code: Select all
        //echo wordpress user role [avnw-wpuserrole]
        function userrole_func( $atts ){
    $user = new WP_User(get_current_user_id());
    echo $user->roles[0];
        add_shortcode( 'avnw-wpuserrole', 'userrole_func' );
