How to create hollow circles in Photoshop or encircling

To create a red circle on any image or text just choose the Custom Shape Tool (U) or type the U key. At the top of your PS window you will see new options. Select a circle from 'Shape'. Click on Color to set the color (red) from the color picker.

Now you should be able to select the area you want to encircle with your mouse and will automatically create a circle!

You could also select many different fun shapes from the menu options, of course. But for regular solid color circles, always select the Elliptical Marquee Tool (M).
